Personnel

In order to have such an energetic and imaginative curriculum, it is necessary to have an extraordinary staff. We are proud to have such people at Cradles to Crayons Child Center; many of whom have been here for over ten years. Our staff is made up of individuals sensitive to both the delights and the fears of each child. Our staff is knowledgeable by experience and is educationally prepared to meet the intellectual challenges of each child.

Although they definitely give care, the word caregiver is inadequate to describe a staff person who is alert enough to recognize adverse reactions created by a new sibling, a new food, or a new medication. Although they impart information, our staff people go beyond teaching.

Perhaps the best title for the members of our faculty would be "facilitator", for they work to enable a child to realize his or her own potential more easily.

Physical Setting

The Cradles to Crayons Child Center's building is located on the corner of Boston Street and Soundview Road (known as Goose Lane north of Route One) in Guilford. It is reached from Exit 59 on 1-95. The entrance is on Soundview Road. Two playgrounds serve the needs of the children for supervised outdoor play. Separate, smaller play-yards are available to those children in the Under Three groups. Both playgrounds have climbing equipment. Outdoor play is an integral part of each day's activity.
